The North German company KILIA, founded in 1932 by Fritz Reimers, has been producing meat processing and specialty machinery for 75 years.

In the first decades, under the leadership of the company's founder, the focus was on the German market, offering a wide range of machines for the meat industry.

At the same time, increased attention was paid to industrial customers. While the breadth of the product range has shrunk, the offering in the core areas of cutting and grinding machines now ranges from small devices to large industrial machines. The company's initial move to larger premises in Kiel was a logical consequence of these changing production requirements. Under the leadership of the company founder's son, things improved steadily over the next few years, and by the mid-1990s, the export share had risen to over 40%.

The next dramatic change came in 1995 when the Reimers family left the company and the company was sold to new owners.
